Informed Consent — Using Athia

1. What is Athia?

Athia is a digital tool for mental and emotional support for athletes. Through quick check-ins and a conversation with AI trained in sports psychology, it gives you a space to talk about how you're showing up mentally for training and competition, even when your supervising professional isn't available.

You're using Athia because Stefy Paiz is your supervising professional within the platform.

2. What Athia is NOT

It is not a therapy service and doesn't replace the professional care you already receive. It doesn't diagnose any medical or mental health condition. It is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis or immediate danger, contact emergency services or Stefy Paiz directly.

3. Confidentiality

What you write in Athia is seen only by Stefy Paiz. No other professional, club, institution, or third party has access. The technical team operating Athia may have limited access for maintenance and security, under confidentiality, never for any other purpose.

4. The one exception: your safety

If the system detects signs that your safety may be at risk, it will notify Stefy Paiz directly so she can reach out to you. This is the only situation where the system acts without waiting for you to ask.

5. Voluntary participation

Using Athia is completely voluntary. You can stop using it whenever you want, without explanation.

6. Your data

You can ask at any time to see what has been recorded about you, or request that it be deleted — deletion is completed within 30 days of your request, by writing to [email protected]. Records that a safety alert existed (without your name or the conversation content) are kept even if you delete your account, as proof the system responded in time. Your conversations also pass through the AI provider that processes the chat, which keeps a copy on their end for a short period (up to 30 days) for safety monitoring, without using it to train their models.

7. Eligibility

Athia is designed, for now, for adults.
